We believe the purpose of the church is to worship God, to make disciples (people who follow Jesus with commitment and devotion) and to be a community which brings the love God has for all people into the world in practical ways. We are to be a sign of the coming Kingdom (or rule) of God in the world today.
We believe the church is a missionary community, called by God to be an instrument of his love and compassion in the world, called to bring all who are lost, weary and heavy laden, back to Him.
In the words of St. Theresa of Avila (1515-1582)
Christ has no body but yours,
No hands, no feet on earth but yours,
Yours are the eyes with which he looks
In compassion on this world,
Yours are the feet with which he walks to do good,
Yours are the hands, with which he blesses all the world.
Yours are the hands, yours are the feet,
Yours are the eyes, you are his body.
Christ has no body now but yours,
No hands, no feet on earth but yours,
Yours are the eyes with which he looks
In compassion on this world.
Christ has no body now on earth but yours.
What do we do?Like all churches, we offer a range of activities and services that are designed to help us all to grow in faith and to be active disciples in our daily lives, reaching out to all those around us.
We realise the people's lives are much busier and faster paced than was the case in the past. One of our main aims is to enable people to follow Jesus in the real world, to find peace and rest and purpose even amongst the busyness.
We hope this website will give you an indication of who we are and what we do.
